Previous meeting and plant table discussion (13 May 2008)

We had a well-attended meeting where Christo Page was voted in as the ONT President and a few constitutional changes were accepted.  Christo together with the show chairperson; Paula Copeman then proceeded to hand out the certificates and prizes to various recipients for plants which won ‘Best in Class’ sections at our autumn show. See previous newsletter for the details. It was also mentioned that the past show was an enormous success in terms of visitation and profit taken.  Hendrik Vorster gave a short but insightful talk on lessons learned at various WOC’s.

 The evening was ended with a hearty soup and sherry table. – Thanks to Paula and Marietjie.

 There will be no study group meeting because of the Paphiopedilum symposium.

 The next meeting will only take place on 10 August 2008 and will be hosted by Mike & Tessa Rakow in Edenvale.  Joan Elvin will be giving a talk.  Contact Christo Page for details.

 Paphiopedilum Symposium

 There are less than two weeks to go and you are reminded to register for this event as well as the Gala dinner to celebrate the SAOC’s 40^th anniversary. Both events are not to be missed.

 Nuwe lede/New members

 Soos reeds genoem was ons pas afgelope skou baie suksesvol en heelwat van die besoekers het belang gestel oor die doen en late van die ONT.  Die vereniging heet dus die volgende nuwe lede hartlik welkom en vertrou dat hulle ʼn lang en vrugtevolle verbintenis met die ONT .sal handhaaf.

 We are in desperate need of new members, especially young people.  Please do make an effort to either expose a friend to orchids or better yet, bring them with you to one of our monthly meetings.
